Sacred Anarchy Reading Circle

Do you like to read interesting novels (and maybe more)? Do you like to explore how society could be and what we can do to help?

If you said yes to both these questions, the Sacred Anarchy Reading Circle might be for you!

We began by reading Ursula Le Guin’s classic anarchist novel The Dispossessed. Anarchism is a frequently misunderstood spiritual and political tradition which sees the potential in humanity for cooperative living on all scales of society. The tradition is dismissed and ridiculed by those who believe that inequality is necessary, if regrettable. Le Guin offers a deeply rich and wise understanding of human possibilities.

In his research on anarchism, Vishwam came to define anarchy as ‘the art of relating freely as equals.’ One of his friends recently suggested we could simply say it is ‘Nature’.

If all this sounds interesting to you, our next gathering is on 30th September at 6:30pm (UK time) to decide together what to read next. To join us, simply email Haripriya on namaste@flowingwithlife.org to register your place.

If you can’t make the meeting, but would like to stay in the loop, you can email your phone number to vishwam@flowingwithlife.org to join the WhatsApp group.

Some possible books that have been suggested include

  • Body of Glass by Marge Piercy

  • Disnaeland by D. D. Johnston

  • The 10,000 Doors of January by Alix Harrow
