If Only

full-moon-isle-of-mull.jpg

Sweet friend,

if only I could show you
your original innocence
as easily as you point
to the fullness of the moon
on a soft summer’s eve.

If only I could guide your gaze
to your unblemished beauty,
as the heart of the rose
draws the bee of your eye.

If you could forever hear
the song of your own heart,
neither praise nor blame
could ever turn your ear.

If you could taste the essence
of this moment,
your mind might never again
become lost in the maze
of more … more . . .
